Ultralightweight building and time travel machine
The remains of the Roman castellum in De Hoge Woerd have disappeared below surface level. De Hoge Woerd is currently situated in the middle of Leidsche Rijn, a large-scale urban development on the west-side of the city of Utrecht. Building on history is one of the anchor points for Leidsche Rijn: the Roman past adds identity to this new urban district.
De Hoge Woerd is a most valuable archaeological location. Considering the sensitivity and value of the archaeological remains, the aim is to develop a building which will not disturb the subsurface and which will at the same time visualise the history of De Hoge Woerd.
