Team HKU wins students challenge Portico
06 May 2011
The team of Utrecht School of the Arts in Hilversum was chosen to be the best team out of the six teams from Cologne, Chester and Ghent. All the teams were participating at the students challenge of project Portico in the last couple of months. After the final presentation in Cologne, the project “Aelius en de tijdmachine” (Aelius and the Timeportal) turned out to be the most valued by the jury. This meant a cheerful ending of a beautiful project, where children from primary schools in the area of Kanaleneiland were introduced into the Roman past of their own neighborhood in an innovative and exciting way.
The project received a lot of media attention the last months. You can find some interesting links here:

The student’s challenge is part of the European project Portico, where Utrecht collaborates, along with Cologne, Chester and Ghent, to the conservation and visibility of the culture-historical past in these cities for the inhabitants and visitors. Castellum de Hoge Woerd and Initiative Domplein receive subsidy for their projects, because of the participation in the project.
